Chochmat HaLev offers a wealth of opportunities to learn, get involved and connect to community in a way that is replenishing and restorative.

We offer a variety of drop-in classes, lectures, on-going class series, distance and intensive learning programs, as well as holiday-centered festivities and programming. Our activities take into account our diverse membership and community, and programming often bridges different age groups and demographics.

We welcome you to get involved! For most classes and events (unless otherwise noted) registration or ticketing (where appropriate) is done right at the door. Occasionally, pre-registration is required. If that is the case, there will be a link next to the program description, directing you to register on-line.

Untitled Document Women's Rosh Chodesh Group
with Sherry Berman
Next Meeting: Saturday, June 16, 7-9pm (30 Sivan)

Rosh Chodesh is an ancient tradition on the Jewish path, and a beautiful opportunity for women to come together in strength and song on the new moon. This intentional women's circle will focus on the theme and flavor of the month. This lay-led, drop-in group meets monthly with the intention of being supportive, creative, grounding, fun, and soulful.

Facilitated by Sherry Berman--sherry@switch2wisdom.com

But Seriously Folks: A Look at Jewish Humor and the Great Jewish Comics of the Past 75 Years
with Steve Budd
Sunday, June 24 at 7:30
$10 for Members/$15 for General Public

Need some humor in your life? This is the Jew for you!
Budd's revue of Jewish humor combines a performance and a lecture. In the performance portions, he delivers the standup routines and jokes of well-known Jewish comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser, Jackie Mason, Woody Allen, Jack Benny, and the Marx Brothers. In the lecturesections, he addresses the history of Jewish comedians in America, considers the reasons for their popularity, and provides some answers to the question, "What makes Jewish humor Jewish?"

Steve Budd is an actor, improviser, standup comic, and solo performer who’s been seen locally at The Marsh, the SF Solo Fest, Tell It On Tuesday, Lila Theatre (improv), and numerous comedy clubs.
Other local credits include Joey Bishop in The Tribute at the Post Street Theatre and Tim Timko (game show host) in Reckless at the SF Playhouse. He learned a thing or two about Jewish humor from his former Rabbi, Moshe Waldoks, the editor The Big Book of Jewish Humor.

The Green Thinker's Potluck

Within the Chochmat community there is a wealth of knowledge, skill, creativity and plain old chutzpah. We are hosting the first of a series of potlucks for passionate green thinking folks of all sorts, especially those interested in any aspect of alternative energy from solar to hydrogen and all points in between. Are you tinkering with some idea in your living room? Have you been pushing solar power for years? How can we have a greener Chochmat? What is your deep dream about the ways we can actually save this planet for our grandchildren? Come share it at the potluck in the garden. Who knows what might happen?
